Veteran professional Fortnite: Battle Royale player Anthony “ZexRow” Colandro might be moving on from the game that helped spawn his successful career.
ZexRow arrived on the Fortnite scene in its prime - when invitational tournaments were the only option for top players. He became one of the most recognizable names in the game’s history because of his tournament success. That all may be coming to an end based on ZexRow’s activity over the last several weeks. He’s been grinding Riot Games’ competitive first-person shooter (FPS) Valorant heavily and has not touched Fortnite much outside of one invite-only competition. What’s more, ZexRow continues to tease his departure from Fortnite on Twitter, leaving fans wondering if it will come to fruition.

Anyone who even remotely follows ZexRow may have noticed that his activity on Fortnite has dwindled over the last month. Since the release of Chapter 2 - Season 5, the veteran player shifted focus to Valorant on his Twitch stream. According to Twitch Tracker, ZexRow clocked in 221 hours of Valorant air time on his channel compared to only 3.6 hours on Fortnite. During a sponsored Chipotle tournament, those 3.6 hours took place, where his team failed to finish inside the money. Since then, it’s been all Valorant for the Season X Champion.
ZexRow is no stranger to bait and misinformation, especially on Twitter. The TSM member’s recent tweets do not give a clear indication as to his next move. He sparked controversy recently after stating that aiming in Fortnite takes much more skill than Valorant and Counter-Strike. He then reversed course and said the opposite mere days later. So, at this point, only ZexRow and his close friends likely know what he’s planning.

If ZexRow does decide to move on from Fortnite, he’ll do so with quite a career behind him. His highlights include an early Summer Skirmish tournament win, finishing top-10 at the Fortnite World Cup and becoming the first Fortnite Champion Series (FNCS) victor alongside teammates MackWood and Calc. His long battle with wrist pains has notably worn on him over time and could factor into his decision. It’ll be unfortunate to watch such a transcendent veteran like ZexRow leave Fortnite, especially considering his seventh-place finish in FNCS Chapter 2 - Season 4.
We likely won’t know ZexRow’s choice until the competitive season kicks off next year. If he does indeed make the transition to Valorant, let’s hope he follows the footsteps of fellow Fortnite “OG” thwifo and represents the scene well.
