Fortnite: Cars Have Arrived! - Patch v13.40 Notes

Cars are officially in Fortnite: Battle Royale!

Fortnite Chapter 2 - Season 3 released on June 17 with a redesigned map. Some of the map's unique features included a lot of water and plenty of mobility with boats, launch pads, helicopters, crash pads. Since then, the water level on the current Fortnite map has drained significantly. Epic Games teased the first appearance of cars in Fortnite at the beginning of this new season.

Seven weeks later and after some delays, cars have finally arrived in Fortnite. Patch v13.40 introduced driveable cars into the ultra-popular Battle Royale title, but the developers also fixed some bugs that have plagued the game for quite some time. We've gathered together the list of patch notes courtesy of Jeff03blue_Instinct on Reddit.

Cars

Four types of vehicles are available to drive in Fortnite. These cars offer a variety of speeds and fuel capacities. Players can carry gas canisters to refuel their vehicles when they are running low. Gas stations are also available to players. To fuel cars at gas stations, players must drive up to a gas pump, get out of the car, grab a gas nozzle and hold the corresponding button.

Cars drive best on roadways, but they can also travel on water and offroad. These new vehicles also offer radio stations featuring artists like Drake and Juice Wrld. There's a lot to digest with the debut of cars in Fortnite. It's much more complex than being able to farm them for metal.

Bug Fixes

  • Glider no longer redeploys slower than normal after launching.
  • Ocean's Bottomless Chug Jug will no longer glitch and be unavailable for pick-up.
  • The challenge "Land at Frenzy Farm/The Yacht and finish Top 25" will now count in Duos/Squads.
  • You can go through different sections of the emote wheel faster.
  • The XP bar will now show up correctly while in a match and leveling up.
  • The challenge "Deal damage within 10s of landing from the Whirlpool at Hydro 16" will now say "at The Yacht".

It's worth noting that some players report that the slow glider redeploy issue is still present in Fortnite. Additionally, it appears the Fortnite's controller inventory bug still exists as does the mouse cursor on-screen for controller players.

There are rumors of a new shotgun and different types of floppers that may arrive at a later date this season. As of now, Fortnite Chapter 2 - Season 3 will conclude on August 27.
