FNCS Chapter 2 - Season 3 Broadcast Schedule, Twitch Drops & More!

More details surface about the upcoming Chapter 2 - Season 3 Fortnite Champion Series.

Competitive Fortnite is on the precipice of the fifth-ever Fortnite Champion Series tournament series. Solos is the name of the game this time, similar to what took place to close out last season with the FNCS Invitational. However, it is a bit different seeing that the Chapter 2 - Season 3 Fortnite Champion Series is not an invitational.

As we’ve seen before, the FNCS tournaments feature a series of qualifiers which lead into heats and then finally the Grand Finals. Epic Games has officially announced more details regarding the upcoming event, including broadcast dates and unique Twitch Drop opportunities for those looking to stream the tournament.

Broadcast Schedule

Fortnite Chapter 2 - Season 2 saw the return of official Fortnite tournament broadcasts. The likes of Ballatw, SUND0WN, Zeke, Shyowager and many others graced viewers with their presence for the first time since the Season X Championship. It was a refreshing sight after such a long layoff, and it will continue in Chapter 2 - Season 3.

According to an official competitive Fortnite blog post, broadcasts will return on August 1. Official Fortnite FNCS streams will run through the qualifiers from August 1 to August 2, August 8 to August 9 and the Grand Finals will take place from August 14 to August 16. The programming schedule below applies to all three weekends.

Times in U.S. Eastern Standard

  • 1:00pm - Broadcast Begins
  • 1:15pm - Live EU coverage
  • 4:30pm - Break
  • 5:15pm - Live NA-East coverage
  • 8:30pm - Approximate end

Twitch Drops Return

Epic Games recently enabled Twitch Drops as far back as the Fortnite Champion Series in Chapter 2 - Season 1. These drops allowed players and commentators to add a little more incentive to their live streams. This time around, viewers are in play to earn an exclusive FNCS back bling, spray and emoji. Those seeking information on implementing Twitch Drops on their channel, refer to a snip-it from the blog post below:

“... if you’re planning to stream FNCS on your Twitch channel, you’re eligible to give out drops during the FNCS. To opt in to this program, please email twitchdrops@epicgames.com with your request BEFORE JULY 29, 2020, stating you agree to abide by our community rules and include your Epic Account ID (found in settings on the account tab) and Twitch URL.”

The Twitch Drop aspect will certainly inflate viewership for Chapter 2 - Season 3. At this point, the prize pool for this Fortnite Champion Series is unclear. It’s also worth noting that Epic Games’ official broadcast will only cover two qualifying weeks, whereas before, FNCS tournaments have featured at least four qualifiers. The Fortnite Competitive Team might be looking to mirror the same format from the FNCS Invitational, but that is just conjecture. We will have to wait and see what the prize pool, scoring system and qualification threshold will look like as we approach August 1.
