Let’s take a look at what happened during the last week of the DPC in Europe.
After several weeks of epic action, it’s finally time to take a look at what happened during the DPC. Needless to say, Europe was the most interesting region, which is why we got to see loads of unique series. In the end, Team Secret and Alliance managed to occupy the first two places in the Upper Division
Team Nigma managed to bounce back after their disappointing results and will head over to the Wild Card.
Upper Division
Only three series took place during the week, which is why we will highlight two of them that we think were more interesting.
Team Liquid vs Alliance
The first series that we want to cover in this article was really important for both teams. Alliance and Team Liquid played well during the DPC, which is why the clash between them was pretty much impossible to predict.
Following one of the most intriguing series of the month, Alliance was able to take the victory and secured a spot at the Major. However, the victory definitely wasn’t easy, especially in game three.
The first clash between the two went in favor of Alliance following their amazing draft. Nikolay “Nikobaby” Nikolov and his team-mates tried to steal a page of OG’s book by picking Alchemist for the offlane. Even though he didn’t have the best game in the world, he was able to help his carry a lot.
Team Liquid tried to ban the most common heroes that go along with Alch, but sadly, they forgot about Phantom Assassin. As you can probably guess, Nikobaby ripped through them like a knife through butter.
Even though they lost, the second game of the series went in favor of Team Liquid. Although Alliance picked an amazing draft that focused on pushing, TL had the perfect answer. They decided to pick Broodmother, which is a hero that can easily demolish every lineup. Needless to say, Max “qojqva” Bröker managed to demolish Nikobaby and co. and pushed the series into game three.
In game three, the two teams picked interesting heroes. Team Liquid tried to utilize a mid-lane Shadow Fiend and a carry Bloodseeker. On the other hand, Alliance had Weaver and IO, which is a popular combination. Although Liquid played really aggressively, Alliance was able to slowly but steadily take advantage. In the end, they delivered their knock-out punch and secured the second spot for the Singapore Major.

Team Secret proved why they are the best team in the world after dominating the EU DPC. Clement "Puppey" Ivanov and his team-mates didn’t lose a single series. This makes them one of the biggest contenders for the upcoming Major.
The first clash between the two powerhouses seemed intersting on paper, but Team Secret didn’t give their opponents any chances. Lasse Aukusti "MATUMBAMAN" Urpalainen and his Slark needed just 24 minutes to get a lead in the series.
Although OG lost game one. they played extremely well in the second game of this amazing series. Following their signature Alchemist offlane pick, the two-times TI champions were able to win and play a game three. One of the main reasons behind their success was Riki, who caught TS off guard.
The final game of this epic series was a joy to watch because we got to see the best from both squads. Team Secret didn’t want to lose a single series, so they picked some of their strongest heroes in the face of IO, Ursa, and Ember Spirit. Needless to say, OG also didn’t want to go down without a fight. That’s why they got some of the most annoying heroes in the game.
Although both teams were neck and neck, Team Secret was able to deliver their knock-out punch after a series of good team-fights. Ursa usually doesn’t scale that well in the late game, but that doesn’t apply to MATUMBAMAN. He and IO gave OG a rampart and secured the win for Team Secret.
Lower Division
Although people expected HellBear Smashers to win the Lower Division, it was Brame that took first place. It’s safe to say that this was one of the most interesting divisions to watch due to the removal of two of the contenders.
Both HB Smashers and Brame managed to win their last series pretty easily. Marcus "Ace" Hoelgaard had absolutely no problem against Spider Pigzs in both games. The first one was probably more interesting to watch because we got to see Medusa in action, but she was not enough to carry her team to victory.
On the other hand, Brame successfully won against No Bounty Hunter. Kharis "SkyLark" Zafeiriou and his squad have shown everyone that they deserve to go to the Upper Division. We can’t wait to see them in action next season.
