Fortnite: G2 Esports Signs Five-Time FNCS Finalist Smqcked

G2 Esports continues to expand upon its already impressive competitive Fortnite: Battle Royale roster with another top NA East player.

The fan-voted “Esports Organization of the Year” has not let off the gas one bit with its recent Fortnite talent acquisition process. After signing top NA East and EU controller players - Coop and LeTsHe - not many knew what to expect moving forward out of G2 Esports. Founder and CEO Carlos “ocelote” Rodriguez continued with the addition of four-time Fortnite Champion Series (FNCS) Finalist Jahq. Today, G2 announced the signing of another NA East player named Smqcked, who has amassed a quite track record in competitive Fortnite.

G2 Smqcked Announcement

In typical G2 fashion, the organization produced a short comedic one-minute video for its latest Fortnite roster pick-up. It features their new player Smqcked as he showcased some precise sniper shots. His performance wowed current G2 members LeTsHe and Niko, which ultimately led to Smqcked’s signing. The NA East player brings with him five FNCS Grand Final appearances over two years, amongst many other accomplishments. Smqcked joins fellow players LeTsHe, Coop and Jahq as G2’s fourth Fortnite signing since November.

Smqcked’s Fortnite History

Although he’s flown under the radar, Smqcked has quietly done well since first arriving on the scene in 2019. He qualified for the FNCS Grand Finals in Season X, Chapter 2 - Season 1, Invitational, Chapter 2 - Season 3 and Chapter 2 - Season 4. His best result occurred in Chapter 2 - Season 1, where he and his squadmates claimed fifth place and $37.5K USD in total. Smqcked also narrowly missed qualifying for the Fortnite World Cup. Regardless, he compiled an impressive string of results despite not being a recognizable name.

Smqcked will look to bring some of that success to one of the premier esports organizations in the world. As for G2 Esports, who knows what Ocelote and company have up their sleeves next in competitive Fortnite.
