Day 1 of the Call of Duty League Championships saw some incredible games for a lot of cash, so let's go back over and take a look at all of yesterday's action.
Chicago Huntsmen 3-1 London Royal Ravens
The London Royal Ravens started off this match-up hot with a 250-224 Rammaza Hardpoint victory to take a 1-0 series lead. Many fans thought this would result in London taking a 2-0 lead due to map 2 being Rammaza yet again. But this was not the case and the Chicago Huntsmen replied quickly with a 6-4 victory to tie the series.
Map 3 was vital in the series as London have the second worst Domination record in the League. However Domination had also been Chicago’s worst game mode during Playoffs. So London needed to win in order to take the series, but they couldn't pull through. They suffered a 160-145 loss giving Chicago a 2-1 lead in the series. This must've been a massive blow to the Royal Ravens as they were picked apart in map 4; losing 250-166 and being eliminated from Champs. This match saw London place 4th and win $450k while Chicago progressed into the Losers Finals.
Dallas Empire 3-2 Atlanta FaZe
Dallas kicked off the match with a 250-230 Hardpoint taking a 1-0 lead in the series. This was only their second Azhir Cave victory of the season — meaning their map 1 win was unexpected and is the major factor in their series win. Map 2 saw Atlanta FaZe reply with a 6-4 SnD and carry that momentum into the Domination for a 161-153 win taking a 2-1 series lead.
However, the Dallas Empire were not finished and they narrowly closed out map 4 250-239 to force a game five. In the game five Atalanta FaZe had a few chances to win it but the clutches kept going in favour of Dallas as they won the series 3-2 following a 6-3 map 5 victory. This match saw Dallas Empire secure their spot in the Grand Final starting with a 1-0 lead and Atlanta went down to the losers bracket to play Chicago for the last Grand Final spot.
Atlanta FaZe 3-1 Chicago Huntsmen
Chicago Huntsmen set the tone of the series with a quick and easy 250-166 map 1 victory to start the series 1-0 up. However, this pace did not last long. The Atlanta FaZe were able to slow Chicago down. Replying with a round 11 victory in map 2 to tie the series. This momentum was carried into the last two maps. With FaZe winning map 3 168-147. And while they were nearly cursed from Chris “Simp” Lehr shooting bodies — they managed to clutch up and win 250-239 in map 4. This means that Atlanta FaZe go on to play Dallas Empire in the Grand Finals. The Chicago Huntsmen place 3rd winning $600k.
