Looking for a champion to abuse for LP this month? Look no further, Ezreal is your go-to champion for July!
Statistics don’t lie and Ezreal is running rampant on the rift. With a solid 51% win rate and 37% pick rate in games above platinum ELO as of 10.12, Ezreal is an extremely strong pick. Runes / Summoner Spells
Conqueror is the ideal keystone for Ezreal providing him with increased attack damage in the extended fights that he shines in. Presence of Mind gives Ezreal increased attack damage with Muramana while also providing him with a larger mana pool throughout the game. Bloodline is the standard rune for non-Blade of the Ruined King rush ADCs and Coup de Grace is the most consistent rune for ADCS, however, if you are against a tanky team don’t be afraid to go Cutdown for increased shred on tanks. As for secondary runes, Boots and Biscuits are always a good combo for accelerating into the mid-game but don’t be afraid to swap either of them for Cosmic Insight if you want the added 5% cap on your CDR.
Itemization
Ezreal’s standard itemization is always Manamune into Iceborn Gauntlet or Trinity Force and third items are usually either Deaths Dance or Blade of the Ruined King. After the first three core items, Ezreal is allowed to build many different AD items depending on what the situation calls for.
The Game Plan
Early Game
Remember that Ezreal is a Manamune reliant character and stacking Tear early is integral to playing the champion. Look to find good back timings for Tear and Manamune because the sooner you complete Muramana the sooner you take over the game. However, having kill pressure in certain lanes is important so if you find yourself backing with 1050g don’t be afraid to buy a sheen and play aggressively to snowball advantageous situations.
Mid-Game
Look to have your Manamune stacked and transformed into Muramana by around 21 minutes along with your choice of Iceborn Gauntlet or Trinity Force. With this combination, Ezreal is the strongest Marksman in the mid-game boasting long-range damage and survivability that can’t be rivaled by his counterparts. Utilizing this power spike poke enemies down and take objectives on the map and only use Arcane Shift forward when you know that the fight is yours. The last item you’re looking to complete in the mid-game is Death’s Dance with the recent changes to Death’s Dance the item makes champions tankier while also having increased healing and cooldown reduction. The item gives Ezreal a bit of everything he wants while making him obnoxiously tanky for a Marksman.
Late Game
While Ezreal does not scale as well into the late-game as some other marksman he still has opportunities to shine if played well. Some items to consider in the late-game are: Mortal Reminder for dealing with champions that have built armor, Blade of the Ruined King for champions that are tanky with high amounts HP and Bloodthirster against teams with large amounts of poke. Look to land skill shots on the enemy backline while positioning well, Ezreal’s itemization allows for him to play aggressively with increased survivability so increased aggression can create opportunities for victory.
And remember just because a champion is strong doesn’t mean you’re going to win every game so don’t get disheartened from a few losses here or there. GL HF Summoners.
